Re: Ups
Hey Ivan
If you are talking to me and about the inrush on the system from both the motor starting and the capacitor connected as well, I ordered a capacitor rated contactor. I order one for now and I wanted totry it out before ordering more, the contactor is so cool. I will try and post a pic of it. A really cool plan to limilt the inrush!!

Hey Mike,
If its not too much trouble can you test with the 434.
try the inrush or dips and swell mode. Save the fvf and share it
1) motor inrush alone
2) cap inrush alone
3) motor and cap inrush
4) motor cap and contactor inrush

Re: Ups
Sure. Bare with me for a little bit. I have attached a PDF of the contactor, it has as they call it "damping resistors" The resistors are only used during start up and then they are cut out of the circuit after a few seconds. That way the capacitor(s) are alot lower at the start. I am still waiting to get it but looks cool. You always learn something in this trade. I hope someone out there will like this stuff too!

Re: Ups
those look like power factor correction discharge contactors.

Re: Ups
yeah, I thought the samething, but the drawings show they are only active on inrush. neat idea.

Looking at the patents, it appears to be a set of contacts that close just before the main contacts. So in a nut shell the contactor coil gets power and as it travels the first set of contact ( the resistors ) are closed. Then a few miliseconds the main contacts close. I believe the resistors are never really off line. First on , last off.
oops sorry different type.

Re: Ups
Well, I am still waiting for the go a head. Another project got the first pick, so hopefully soon. However the contactor came in, I will try and post a pic.
