Default 435 screen

i need to leave the 435 recording for weeks at a time...but i am concerned that the screen is going to burn like my other PQA...i left it recording for a week and when i got back to collect it the screen has now got black lines across the screen...will this happen to the 435 if left for weeks at a time because you cannot switch off the screen only let the battery go flat which will switch off the unit causing the screen to go off ...but i dont want this to happen.

anyone have any suggestions.

The 190 Series uses the same case, battery pack and I'd guess the screen too. My 199B has been powered up for almost two months non-stop except for two days that I was away.

I did notice after two days off, the fan was making some noise but that went away after it warmed up again. My 43B has been powered up just as long with my 123 coming in second.

so the screens are fine... they dont burn from leaving them on for extended periods?

i have never noticed a fan running in the 435.

i am just concerned because the other PQA i have spent 5 days continuous reading and it has damaged the screen.

i have been having sleepless night worried about my testers on site...i have insurance but there are so many clauses it is difficult to know if they would actually pay out if it came down to it...one thing about insurances companies they sure have a lot of small print when it comes to paying out claims...problem is the only way to start getting some sort of return on my investment is to leave the recorders logging on site.

i am considering buying a 1735 to do load assessments for
companies...anyone have any ideas where i should buy this piece of equipment...it might pay me to fly to europe buy it and fly back it might work out cheaper than buying it here in SA.

Not sure if a LCD screen has a lifetime hour limit? If you listen closely, can you hear your 435 hum? I always thought that was a electronic component making that sound till I heard the pitch going up/down. I have a automotive OBD-II scanner and it gives off a high pitch sound.

If you purchase outside of SA would you have to pay a duty, tax, etc. on it when you bring it back?

Hey Murdock,
I know this is a little old but did they ever get back to you about this?
My 434 is starting to get "Sticking Images" on the display.

Hi!

Why such a long recording? If I may ask. Alas! The back-light fluorescent tubes have indeed a lifespan. So, be careful!

[I have a good mind and modify my instrument to switch the display ht-supply manually on and off. On the other hand; I'm 100% sure that they can alter the software to give us this function.)

General LCD screens... The back-lighting part has a shorter lifespan than you can imagine!

It is very likely the RAM ~ memory... (Which I hope, is not the case...!) My first 434 went back after about two~three weeks with that kind of fault.; got a replacement. Install (Even reinstall!) the newest update and see if anything improves. Who knows!

Good luck!

As already explained, the backlight from the screens are normally the first thing to fail. Why not change that fluroscent bulbs to a less energy consumition, more lifespam (a hell of a lot) like LED light? Just watch the new SAMSUNG LED LCD TV over the same SAMSUNG normal LCD TV. Better colour reproduction, better contrast, less energy consume, more life span. OK problably is not the best example, but LED backlight could be use anywere, just a circuit change and it's done.
